Pantry Tonight

Privacy policy

Updated 7 November 2026. The same words are inside the app (Me → Privacy policy).

The short version

Pantry Tonight has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your kitchen list, your shopping list, what you cook and your settings are kept on your iPhone. We don't collect them, see them or sell them.

Photos and the camera

When you scan your pantry, fridge or freezer, the photo is read on your phone: our food camera and Apple's text reading run on the iPhone itself. Photos are not saved in the app and are not sent anywhere.

Say it

Say it uses Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into a list of foods. On iPhones that can do it on the phone, it stays on the phone. On others, Apple processes the recording under Apple's own privacy policy. We never receive or keep a recording.

Barcodes

When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a free food database, to find the product's name. Nothing about you goes with it.

Location (only if you turn on the bag reminder)

The bag reminder saves the supermarkets you choose and checks, on your phone, when you arrive at one. Your location never leaves your phone, and the reminder is off until you turn it on.

Reminders

Cooking timers and the bag reminder are made on your phone. There is no reminder server.

Links

Some pages link to other websites (food safety pages, photo credits). Those open in your browser and have their own privacy policies.

Deleting your information

In the app, Me → "Delete everything on this phone" removes your kitchen, lists, saved supermarkets and settings at once. Deleting the app removes them too.

Children

Pantry Tonight is made for adults who cook. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this ever changes (for example an optional online feature), we'll ask you in the app first and update this page and its date.
